Now my analogy was poor perhaps but the others here are borderline ridiculous. You should be able to reinstall Windows 98 and use it as if you never installed Windows XP. You purchased Windows 98 separate from Windows XP, and since you did not violate the 98 EULA they have no right to disable or cripple Windows 98. Now if you some how violate the EULA for XP but not 98 then Microsoft has the right to not activate XP but do they have the right to disable 98? No they dont. So you have your Windows 98 installed with a valid CD key, and you upgrade to Windows XP. How about you buy a Microsoft XP upgrade for Windows 98. Perhaps my analogy to Half-Life/CS is what is throwing you off, it is not the best analogy. ![]() Yes you need to install Diablo II first to install LOD, but you can have Diablo II installed without LOD, which make Diablo II a game by itself. Yes LOD is an "upgrade" to Diablo II but that does not make them the same game. So if you feel insulted then you must be feeling smug, and if you feel smug then why would you feel insulted, just enjoy your smugness.įor those of you who doubt that Diablo II and Diablo LOD are 2 separate games, I will remind you that they may be bought separately, they come on separate CD's and they have separate CD keys.
